- A major transformation has taken place at Bungwanyi Government-Aided Primary School in Mafudu Sub-county, Sironko District, following the construction of a four-classroom block.
The project, which was supported by a Muslim charity following lobbying by Sironko District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Asha Nabulo Lumolo Mafabi, has replaced dilapidated learning structures with permanent classrooms.
For years, pupils at Bungwanyi Primary School studied in ageing and dilapidated structures, with the condition becoming particularly challenging during rainy weather.
The situation came to the attention of Hon. Asha Nabulo Lumolo Mafabi during her visit to the school in 2021.
Nabulo subsequently engaged Madina Masjid and lobbied a Muslim charity to support the school.
The charity committed more than 800 million shillings towards the construction and equipping of four permanent classrooms, including desks.
Insert bite on how she identified the challenge, lobbied for support and her commitment to improving education infrastructure in Sironko.
The construction progressed from groundbreaking to completion, transforming the school’s learning environment.
The four-classroom block was commissioned on September 21, 2026, and is now being used by pupils and teachers.
Bungwanyi Primary School has about 400 pupils from Primary One to Primary Seven.
The new block has provided additional classroom space and a safer environment for learners.
