Bungwanyi Primary School in Sironko District has received a major facelift following the construction of permanent classroom blocks and provision of desks, ending years of learning in dilapidated structures.
The project was secured through efforts by Sironko District Woman MP Asha Nabulo Lumolo Mafabi, who says she first identified the school’s challenges during the 2021 general election campaigns.
Lumolo said the condition of the classrooms, some of which were at risk of collapsing, prompted her to seek assistance from a Muslim charity to improve the learning environment.
She said after her election in 2026, she continued following up on the pledge until the classrooms were constructed and equipped with desks.
Sironko District LCV Chairperson Nabende Guga described the intervention as a major boost to the school, noting that Bungwanyi had operated without permanent structures since its establishment.
Parents have also welcomed the new facilities, saying they have removed a major safety concern for pupils.
They are now challenging teachers to translate the improved learning environment into better academic performance and stronger Primary Leaving Examination results.
