The late businessman and philanthropist continues to leave a lasting impact through the lives he transformed, with popular young singer Felista Da Superstar revealing how his generosity changed the course of her future.
Speaking on The Pan African Pyramid Show with Andrew Iumba Katusabe, Felista shared the story of how a single performance before Rajiv and his wife became the turning point in her life.
At the time, Felista was attending a school where she was regularly sent home because her family struggled to pay tuition. However, after performing at an event held at Kampala Parents’ School, Rajiv was impressed by her talent, while his wife asked whether she would like to study at the prestigious institution.
Following discussions with her father, the Ruparelia Foundation awarded the young singer a full scholarship from Primary Five to Primary Seven at Kampala Parents’ School, giving her access to quality education that had previously seemed out of reach.
Felista says the opportunity not only relieved her family of the burden of school fees but also exposed her to a new learning environment where she studied alongside children from influential families, boosting her confidence and broadening her aspirations.
Now an established musician, Felista credits the scholarship with providing the stability and education that allowed her to pursue both her studies and her music career.
Her testimony highlights a lesser-known side of Rajiv Ruparelia’s legacy—his commitment to discovering young talent and investing in the education of children from disadvantaged backgrounds, a legacy that continues to bear fruit long after his passing.
