A section of Members of Parliament affiliated to the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has thrown its weight behind Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa for the position of Deputy Speaker ahead of the forthcoming parliamentary leadership arrangements.
According to a statement issued by PLU supporters in Parliament, the decision followed guidance from the Commander-in-Chief, with all PLU MPs and legislators leaning towards the movement agreeing to rally behind Tayebwa for the position.

The announcement has already sparked excitement among Tayebwa’s supporters, with several MPs congratulating him and expressing confidence in his leadership and experience in handling parliamentary business.
“On the issue of Deputy Speaker, after getting guidance from the Commander-in-Chief, all PLU MPs and PLU-leaning MPs will support Rt. Honourable Thomas Tayebwa for that position. Congratulations Rt. Honourable,” the statement read
Tayebwa has in recent years emerged as one of the most influential young leaders within the ruling establishment, earning praise from supporters for his coordination of parliamentary affairs and mobilization efforts across the country.
