Sudhir Challenges Ugandans to Position for Oil Economy

By Joseph muyingo

As Uganda edges closer to commercial oil production and anticipates stronger economic growth, businessman has challenged Ugandans to shift their focus from waiting for opportunities to actively preparing for them.
Speaking during a recent interview on Radio Walla at Next Media, Sudhir said the country’s economic outlook presents a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs, investors, and young people willing to innovate and build sustainable businesses. He noted that Uganda is on the verge of a new era of growth, with projections indicating the economy could expand by as much as 7% once oil production begins to boost key sectors.
Rather than viewing oil as the only source of wealth, Sudhir emphasized that its greatest impact will be in the wider opportunities it creates across construction, transport, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, financial services, and technology. He urged Ugandans to equip themselves with the skills, discipline, and business mindset needed to benefit from the changing economy.
He encouraged local entrepreneurs to invest in productive ventures, embrace innovation, and position their enterprises to serve the growing demands that will come with increased economic activity.
Sudhir also stressed that the private sector has a crucial role to play in transforming Uganda’s economy by creating jobs, attracting investment, and driving industrialisation. He said the country’s future prosperity will depend not only on government policies but also on the willingness of citizens to seize emerging opportunities.
His remarks come at a time when Uganda is preparing for its first commercial oil production, a milestone widely expected to stimulate investment, expand infrastructure, and accelerate national economic growth.
