KAMPALA — Religious and political leaders have used an interfaith thanksgiving service held at the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) headquarters in Kyambogo to rally Ugandans around unity, faith and peaceful coexistence.
The gathering, organised in honour of First Lady Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni, brought together Sironko District Woman MP Hon. Asha Nabulo Mafabi, ONC Head Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, religious leaders, Bazzukulu and other well-wishers.
Rather than focusing only on prayers, participants used the occasion to highlight the importance of bringing Ugandans together despite differences in religion, tribe and political affiliation.
Hon. Asha Nabulo commended the organisers for creating a platform where people from different backgrounds could gather in thanksgiving. She said such engagements can help strengthen social cohesion and promote a spirit of togetherness among Ugandans.
Nabulo also praised Maama Janet for her contribution to the country, particularly in education, family values and the empowerment of young people.
Hajjat Namyalo called on Ugandans to maintain gratitude and continue promoting peace and unity in their communities. She emphasised that faith and mutual respect should play a role in strengthening families and building a united nation.
The service was led by Pastor Aloysius Bujingo, who urged leaders and citizens to work together and avoid divisions that can undermine national development.
The gathering concluded with prayers for Maama Janet’s continued strength and wellbeing, while participants also called for greater cooperation among Ugandans across religious, political and social lines.
The event therefore provided a platform not only to give thanks, but also to reinforce calls for unity, peaceful coexistence and collective responsibility in Uganda.
