Uganda’s position as a preferred destination for international conferences and business events has received a major boost after Speke Resort Convention Centre joined the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers as an official Convention Centre Partner.
The prestigious membership places the convention centre among a global network of leading venues recognised for excellence in hosting international meetings, congresses and exhibitions. It is expected to increase Uganda’s visibility among global event organisers and attract more high-profile conferences to the country.
Located on the shores of Lake Victoria at Munyonyo, Speke Resort Convention Centre is Uganda’s largest integrated meetings and hospitality facility. It features 34 conference and exhibition venues, over 10,000 square metres of meeting space, 476 guestrooms and suites, state-of-the-art audiovisual technology, and world-class hospitality services.
The convention centre has previously hosted several major international events, including the Non-Aligned Movement Summit, the G77+China Third South Summit, the Commonwealth Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers, the Uganda-European Union Business Forum, and the African Airlines Association Annual General Assembly.
Officials say the new IAPCO partnership will strengthen Uganda’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry by attracting more international delegates, increasing conference tourism, creating business opportunities for local service providers and enhancing the country’s reputation as a leading destination for global events.
The milestone further cements Speke Resort Convention Centre’s ambition to become East Africa’s premier convention destination while positioning Uganda as a growing hub for international business and conference tourism.
