Former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has been denied bail by court and ordered to be referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital for further medical treatment.
The decision was made during proceedings in which the court considered Lukwago’s bail application but declined to grant his temporary release. Instead, the court directed that he receives better medical attention at Mulago Hospital.
Lukwago, who also serves as a senior opposition figure and legal practitioner, has recently been at the centre of legal proceedings that have attracted public and political attention.
Supporters and members of the opposition who attended the court session expressed concern over his health condition and welcomed the court’s directive for specialized medical care.
