Residents of Bukiise Sub-county in Sironko District are looking forward to improved access to clean and safe water following the launch of new borehole projects aimed at reducing the long-standing burden of water scarcity in the area.
The initiative, spearheaded by Asha Nabulo Mafabi in partnership with Nile Humanitarian Development Agency, was officially launched in Nalugugu Parish, an area where many households have for years struggled to access reliable water sources.
Representing the Woman MP at the launch, the speaker emphasized that access to safe water remains a critical driver of community development, public health, and household productivity.
Bukiise Sub-county, one of the most densely populated areas in Sironko District, has faced increasing pressure on existing water points, forcing many residents to travel long distances and spend hours searching for water.
The newly commissioned boreholes are expected to reduce congestion at existing water sources, improve sanitation standards, and free up time for families—especially women and children who often bear the responsibility of collecting water.
Local leaders welcomed the intervention, describing it as timely and transformative for communities that have long endured unreliable access to clean water.
Community members expressed optimism that the new water sources will not only improve daily living conditions but also support better health outcomes and strengthen local economic activities.
The project reflects growing collaboration between leaders and development partners in addressing essential community needs and improving livelihoods across Sironko District.
