The Parish Development Model (PDM), monitored by the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), continues to transform the lives of ordinary Ugandans by enabling households to move from subsistence production into the money economy.

In Kazo Parish, a beneficiary, Ms. Sarah Namatovu, received UGX 1 million through the PDM program in 2024. Before joining the program, Namatovu struggled to provide for her family through small-scale farming, earning little income and often failing to meet basic household needs.
After receiving the funds, she invested in poultry farming, purchasing 80 chicks and constructing a simple poultry shelter. Through training and regular monitoring by local leaders and ONC coordinators, her poultry project steadily expanded.

Within a year, Namatovu had increased her stock, earning profits that enabled her to pay school fees for her children, improve her family’s nutrition, and renovate her house. She has since diversified into piggery farming and now employs two young people from her community.
Namatovu credits the Parish Development Model and the close monitoring by the Office of the National Chairman for her success.
“The PDM funds changed my life. I moved from merely surviving to earning a stable income. Today, I can support my family and even help others in my community,” she said.
Officials from the Office of the National Chairman say such success stories demonstrate the impact of President Yoweri Museveni’s wealth creation initiatives aimed at fighting poverty and improving household incomes across the country.

As more beneficiaries invest wisely and receive continuous guidance, the Parish Development Model is increasingly becoming a catalyst for economic transformation and sustainable development in Uganda’s rural communities.
