The race for Parliament’s top leadership is gaining momentum as political heavyweights begin declaring interest in the 12th Parliament leadership positions.
Outgoing Defence Minister Jacob Marksons Oboth has officially expressed interest in the Speakership position, setting the stage for a highly contested battle.
At the same time, incumbent Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, Rose Obiga, and Catherine Lamwaka have all declared their bids for the Deputy Speakership.
The developments come as the ruling NRM continues consultations ahead of the internal selection process for top parliamentary offices.
