Uganda has tightened surveillance and preventive measures along its border points with the Democratic Republic of Congo following growing concerns over Ebola outbreaks in the neighboring country.
The government has also suspended flights from the DRC as part of efforts to protect the country from a possible spread of the deadly virus.
According to the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Diana Atwine ,Uganda has not registered any confirmed Ebola case. He explained that the Congolese patient who had raised suspicion later tested negative for Ebola, easing fears of an outbreak within the country.
Health authorities, however, say the country remains on high alert, especially at border entry points where screening and monitoring of travelers have been intensified.
The Ministry of Health has urged Ugandans to remain vigilant and strictly observe preventive measures such as regular hand washing, avoiding contact with suspected infected persons, and reporting any Ebola-related symptoms to nearby health facilities.
Officials say continued public cooperation is critical in ensuring Uganda remains safe from the virus as neighboring countries continue to battle outbreaks.
