President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today attended the 10th edition of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE 2026) at the luxurious Speke Resort Munyonyo, reaffirming Uganda’s commitment to promoting tourism as one of the country’s leading drivers of economic growth, job creation and foreign exchange earnings.

The three-day international tourism expo, organised by the Uganda Tourism Board, has attracted global buyers, tourism investors, exhibitors, tour operators, media personalities and industry leaders from across the world to explore Uganda’s vast tourism potential.
Held under the theme “Wanderlust,” POATE 2026 is showcasing Uganda’s unique attractions ranging from wildlife and adventure tourism to culture, heritage and breathtaking natural beauty that continue to position the country as the true “Pearl of Africa.”

President Museveni’s presence at the expo highlights government’s continued support towards transforming tourism into a key export sector capable of boosting household incomes and creating opportunities for millions of Ugandans, especially the youth.
Speaking through various engagements at the expo, government officials emphasized that Uganda remains one of Africa’s most attractive tourism destinations due to its rich biodiversity, peaceful environment and warm hospitality.
The event also provides a platform for networking, business partnerships and investment opportunities aimed at strengthening Uganda’s tourism sector and increasing the number of international visitors to the country.
POATE 2026 runs from May 21st to 23rd and is expected to further market Uganda on the global tourism map as a destination ready to welcome the world.
