Security agencies have intensified investigations and internal security measures following the recovery of all six laptop computers that were stolen from the Bank of Uganda offices along Kampala Road earlier this month.
The breakthrough comes after police arrested two additional suspects believed to be linked to the theft that occurred on the night of 3rd May 2026.
According to police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, investigators had initially recovered two laptops after the arrest of the first suspects before tracking down four more devices through continued intelligence-led operations.
Authorities say the recovery of all the laptops is being viewed as a major step in protecting sensitive institutional property and strengthening confidence in ongoing investigations involving high-profile government offices.
Police confirmed that the recovered devices are currently being kept as exhibits as forensic and legal procedures continue.
The suspects in custody have been identified as Kule Boaz Micheal, Kabuya Ramathan alias Rama, Lubangakene Isaac Izoo, and Oedo Jorem Jude.
The four are expected to appear before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court on 20th May 2026 to answer charges related to office breaking, theft, receiving stolen property, and retaining stolen property.
The incident has sparked wider debate about security systems within key government institutions, with analysts calling for tighter surveillance, restricted access controls, and stronger protection of sensitive digital equipment.
