As Uganda seeks to strengthen its position as a premier tourism destination in East Africa, the upcoming Paradise Island Resort on Lake Victoria is expected to inject fresh momentum into the country’s luxury hospitality sector.

Developed by businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, the multi-billion-shilling project is nearing completion on a 19-acre private island and is scheduled to welcome its first guests later this month.
The resort is being positioned as an exclusive destination for both local and international travelers, offering high-end accommodation, waterfront leisure facilities, and private island experiences rarely found in the region.

Tourism stakeholders say investments of this scale are critical in attracting affluent visitors, increasing tourism revenue, and creating employment opportunities across hospitality, transport, and related service sectors.
Among the resort’s standout features is a 500-metre man-made beach currently in its final stages of development. The project also includes luxury villas, cliff-hanger cottages, and executive accommodation overlooking Lake Victoria.

The development reflects growing confidence in Uganda’s tourism potential and underscores increasing private sector investment in the country’s hospitality industry.
With the first phase set to open in June, Paradise Island Resort is expected to become one of the country’s flagship luxury tourism destinations, further enhancing Lake Victoria’s appeal as a world-class leisure attraction.
