A new wave of political discussions is emerging within the ruling National Resistance Movement following reports from reliable sources within the corridors of power that Susan Nakawuki has reportedly been endorsed on the party ticket for the position of Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
According to highly placed sources, Nakawuki is expected to replace Thomas Tayebwa in a move that is already generating debate among party members and political observers.
Sources indicate that the endorsement discussions have been ongoing within top party structures as the National Resistance Movement strategizes on the leadership composition of the next Parliament.
Nakawuki, who represents Mawokota South in Parliament, has steadily built her political profile within the ruling party ranks and is said to enjoy growing support from sections of legislators and party mobilizers.
Although there has not yet been an official communication from the party leadership regarding the development, insiders suggest that the move is aimed at strengthening cohesion within the party while also bringing fresh leadership into Parliament’s top administration.
Political analysts say that if confirmed, the development could significantly reshape internal dynamics within the ruling party and Parliament ahead of the new parliamentary term.
Efforts to obtain a formal comment from party officials were still ongoing by press time.
