Businessman and philanthropist Dr Sudhir Ruparelia has joined pupils, parents and teachers of Kampala Parents’ School in celebrating Uganda’s rich cultural heritage, using the school’s Cultural Day to highlight the importance of exposing children to the country’s diverse traditions.
The event, held on Saturday as the school closed for the second term, brought together pupils from different backgrounds who showcased traditional customs, attire and cultural practices.
Beyond the colourful performances, the celebrations provided a platform for pupils to appreciate Uganda’s diversity and understand the importance of preserving cultural values while growing up in an increasingly modern society.
Sudhir’s participation added a strong community and mentorship dimension to the event, as the school used the occasion to encourage children to take pride in their heritage while respecting cultures different from their own.
Kampala Parents’ School said cultural activities are an important part of a child’s education because they help learners develop a sense of identity, confidence and appreciation for Uganda’s diversity.
The school reaffirmed its commitment to combining academic learning with activities that nurture responsible, culturally aware and well-rounded young Ugandans.
The Cultural Day also underscored the wider role of schools in preserving Uganda’s heritage by passing cultural knowledge and values from one generation to another.
