Victoria University has unveiled a major academic initiative aimed at strengthening Uganda’s future workforce by offering 100 fully funded Master’s scholarships to its top-performing graduates.
The scholarships, to be awarded under the Rajiv Memorial Scholarships Programme, are designed to nurture outstanding young professionals into researchers, innovators and academic leaders capable of contributing to national development.
Funded by the Ruparelia Family through the Ruparelia Family Foundation, the programme targets graduates from the University’s Class of 2025 who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership potential and a commitment to research.
University management says the initiative is intended to build local capacity in postgraduate education while encouraging graduates to produce research that addresses real-world challenges facing Uganda and the region.
Successful beneficiaries will serve as Research or Tutorial Assistants under the University’s Work Integrated Learning programme, allowing them to gain practical teaching and research experience while pursuing their Master’s degrees.
To qualify, applicants must have attained a minimum CGPA of 4.3, possess strong leadership credentials and meet the admission requirements for a Master’s programme at Victoria University.
The institution says scholarship recipients will also take part in mentorship programmes, innovation activities, seminars and professional development sessions aimed at preparing them for careers in academia, research and industry.
According to the University, the programme will be implemented with an emphasis on transparency, merit, gender balance and inclusion of students with disabilities.
Named in honour of the late Rajiv Ruparelia, the scholarship programme seeks to preserve his legacy by investing in education and creating opportunities for talented young Ugandans to advance their knowledge and contribute to the country’s socio-economic transformation.
Applications for the July/August 2026 intake close on July 22, 2026, with successful candidates expected to complete their postgraduate studies within two years while producing research of publishable quality.
