The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has moved its specialised Real Estate Tax Office from Nakawa to the heart of Kampala’s commercial district, a shift expected to make it easier for property owners, developers and other taxpayers to access real estate-related tax services.

The office began operating from the new location on September 7, 2026, with URA announcing that taxpayers can now access the services from the 9th Floor of RR Pearl Tower One along Yusuf Lule Road, opposite the Ministry of Health headquarters.
The relocation represents more than a change of address. It places a specialised URA service closer to one of Uganda’s busiest commercial and property development corridors, where landlords, property developers, investors and other businesses operate.
URA has increasingly placed emphasis on improving taxpayer compliance while making it easier for businesses and individuals to interact with the tax body.
Real estate has become an increasingly important component of Uganda’s urban economy, particularly in Kampala, where commercial buildings, apartments, residential estates and mixed-use developments continue to reshape the city’s skyline.
By positioning its Real Estate Tax Office in central Kampala, URA is expected to improve accessibility for taxpayers seeking guidance and services relating to property taxation.

The new office is housed in RR Pearl Tower One, a property associated with businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia and the Ruparelia Group.
The building forms part of the group’s extensive real estate portfolio and carries the RR Pearl name associated with the Ruparelia family.
The tower also has a sentimental connection to the Ruparelia family, with the “RR” branding associated with the late Rajiv Ruparelia, who was involved in the family’s business activities and philanthropic initiatives before his death in 2026.
The presence of a URA tax office inside a prominent private-sector commercial building also highlights the increasingly interconnected relationship between Uganda’s property sector and the tax administration system.
For taxpayers, the immediate focus remains accessibility.
URA has urged taxpayers who require services from the Real Estate Tax Office to take note of the new location before visiting.
The authority has also provided toll-free lines 0800 217 000 and 0800 117 000, its WhatsApp line 0772 140 000, and email services@ura.go.ug for inquiries.
As Kampala continues to experience rapid property development, the effectiveness of real estate tax administration will remain important to both government revenue collection and the broader formalisation of the property sector.
